Recently, we built and configured five Axiomtek eBOX626A modules for a client specialising in process control. These modules are now installed inside control cabinets and contribute to the customer’s daily operations.
What are the specifics of this project, and how do these compact, versatile systems make a difference?
Why the eBOX626A?
The eBOX626A is an embedded box PC, perfect for industrial applications thanks to its rugged, fanless design, compact form factor, and range of I/O options. Here’s why it was the perfect fit for our customer’s process control needs:
The eBOX626A is DIN-rail mountable, allowing for easy installation inside control cabinets, which optimises space and improves organisation. Each one is powered by an Intel Elkhart Lake processor, delivering reliable performance and energy efficiency, ideal for demanding industrial environments. This is particularly important for continuous, long-term operations in process control.
The eBOX626A’s high number of I/O ports allow it to integrate easily with existing systems. Its communication capabilities include Wi-Fi, cellular support, and 2.5Gbps LAN, which are essential for real-time process control and monitoring. This versatility is crucial for maintaining stable and fast data exchange, even in challenging industrial environments, which reduces downtime and makes operations more efficient.
For this order, our team customised the eBOX626A modules to align with the customer’s requirements. Process control often requires robust communication protocols, so we needed to leave a COM port out on the I/O plate. This allows the customer to replace the DB9 connector traditionally used for the COM port with a CAN port, enhancing their ability to connect to CAN-based devices and networks.
The eBOX626A's compact size makes it ideal for installation within the limited space of control cabinets. This, combined with the DIN-rail mounting feature, mean that the customer can achieve a clean and efficient setup with easy access to the device and, therefore, easy maintenance over time.
The eBOX626A modules in this order are another example of how we can help businesses achieve greater efficiency and success in industrial applications.
