Our Technical Engineer’s Journey to Cisco Certification

Along with our dedication to providing quality industrial devices to our customers, we work hard to promote continuous learning and professional growth amongst our staff.

To further his development at Impulse, our Technical Support Engineer, Connor Richardson, recently took the Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) exam. How did he do?

Preparation and Study

To prepare for the exam, Connor used Skills for All, Cisco's comprehensive public learning platform. Over the course of 70 hours, he completed the Network Technician career path, an intensive program designed to equip learners like him with essential networking skills. This rigorous training covered a range of topics that are essential for a networking professional.


The CCST exam assesses six critical categories: Standards and Concepts, Addressing and Subnet Formats, Endpoints and Media Types, Infrastructure, Diagnosing Problems, and Security. Each category tests a candidate’s depth of knowledge and practical expertise, ensuring they are prepared for real-world networking challenges.

The Result…

Connor's preparation paid off—he achieved perfect scores in three of the exam’s categories, with a final score of an impressive 941 out of 1000, showcasing his deep understanding and proficiency in networking.

The CCST qualification is also a foundational step in a series of networking support certifications, opening the door for Connor to pursue further professional development in this field.

This accomplishment is not just a personal milestone for Connor but also a significant asset for our customers. The CCST qualification is an industry-recognised certification that attests to our technical support team's skill and hard work.
